Documentary Of Mysterious Wonders In The World

These amazing structures centuries later are still a mystery. Why were they built? Where did the people go that made them? How were they built? In some cases, we don’t even know who built them. Historians have assumptions and theories but nothing substantial that provides insight into why these incredible wonders were built.

But the search to solve these mysteries continues.

Meteora – Greece
One of six monasteries that were built on pillars of rocks. These incredible structures were built during the 14th century when the Turks were trying to occupy Greece. The only means of reaching these pinnacles was by rope/rope ladder that was pulled up to ensure security. It is believed that the material was hauled up in nets pulled vertically up the 373 meters of the pillar and utterly unbelievable way of creating such beauty.

Teotihuacan – Mexico

An enormous city that was home toapproximately 125,000 people has dwellings designed for multi-families, along with huge pyramids. The largest structure built is the Pyramid of the Sun. It remains a mystery as to why it was built and who built this city, which is dated back to 250 AD.

Valley of Love

The legend is that a mysterious race of people once lived in this part of Ireland and that they built the structures there. The structures that are still in amazing condition are said to be much older than the pyramids. The mystery remains as to who built them, how did they and where did they go?

Nazca Lines – Peru

Left behind from an ancient civilization in the Nazca desert in 500 BC. What these drawings mean and why they were created are still a mystery. The drawings range from simple figures to more complex ones. The largest of these is over 660 feet.

The Treasury of Petra – Jordan

A city that was once a favorite trading post built somewhere during the second century AD. The city itself is underground, and only 15% has been uncovered. The most popular entrance, the one that has been used in Hollywood movies, is carved into the side of the cliff and stands at 250 feet. Why they built such a massive entrance is anyone’s guess, though many believe that it was a temple to some deity.

Gobekli Tepe – Turkey

Built 7,000 years before the pyramids of Egypt, resting on top of a mountain are humongous pillars craved to look like various animals. Each pillar is 20 feet high, weighing 20 tons. No one really knows why they were built and what purpose they served. Some believe that this is the original site for the Garden of Eden, but they can’t say for sure.
